Smile Makeover in North York

A smile makeover is not one treatment. It is a plan that puts the right treatments in the right order to reach the smile you have in mind.

A smile makeover in North York is a personal treatment plan that may combine whitening, bonding, veneers, Invisalign, crowns or gum contouring. At Emerald Forest Dental, your dentist starts with your goals and a full exam, then explains which steps make sense, the order to do them in and what results are realistic for your teeth.

About smile makeover

Most people who ask for a makeover want to change more than one thing. Maybe a few teeth are stained, one is chipped and the front teeth overlap. Treating each issue on its own can lead to mismatched colours or work that has to be redone. A makeover plan looks at your whole smile first, including your teeth, gums, bite and lips, and how they work together.

Order matters. Health problems like cavities or gum disease are treated before any cosmetic work. If teeth need straightening, aligners usually come before veneers or crowns, so less tooth structure needs to be removed later. Whitening is often done before new tooth-coloured work, because the new work is matched to your whitened shade. Your dentist will explain why each step is placed where it is.

A good plan also fits your life. Some people want to move ahead step by step over a year or two, while others prefer to finish sooner. You can decide what matters most, what you are comfortable with and what fits your budget. Your dentist may show you photos, models or a mock-up so you can picture the change before you commit to anything.

A makeover plan may help if

  • You want to change more than one thing about your smile
  • You have older dental work that no longer matches your other teeth
  • Your teeth are worn, chipped and stained at the same time
  • You are not sure which treatment to start with
  • You want to understand all your options before deciding

Benefits

  • One plan instead of separate, unconnected treatments
  • Treatments are ordered to protect your natural teeth
  • Colour and shape are planned across your whole smile
  • You can move at a pace that suits you

What to expect

  1. Talk about your goalsYou tell us what you like and dislike about your smile, and what you hope to change.
  2. Full exam and recordsYour dentist checks teeth, gums and bite, and takes X-rays, photos and impressions or a scan.
  3. Review your optionsWe go over possible treatments, the order they would follow and what results are realistic.
  4. Preview the changeWhere possible, a mock-up or model lets you see the planned shape before treatment.
  5. Treat in stagesHealth care comes first, then each cosmetic step, with check-ins along the way.
  6. Protect your resultWe set up a cleaning and checkup schedule and, if needed, a night guard or retainer.

Aftercare

  • Follow the care steps for each treatment in your plan, such as wearing retainers after Invisalign.
  • Keep regular cleanings so stains, plaque and gum problems do not undo your results.
  • Wear a night guard if you grind your teeth, to protect new veneers, crowns or bonding.

Other options

You do not have to do everything at once. Many people start with one simple step, such as whitening or bonding, and decide on more later. Your dentist can tell you which single change would make the biggest visible difference.

Cost and coverage

Since a makeover combines several treatments, the total depends on which ones you choose. Each part is priced on its own, usually with the ODA suggested fee guide as a reference, and you get a written estimate before starting. Parts that treat a health problem, like fillings or crowns, may be partly covered by insurance or CDCP, while purely cosmetic steps usually are not. Staging treatment and LendCare payment plans can both help spread costs out.

Our promise: we confirm your coverage and explain the cost before treatment.

Smile Makeover FAQ

How long does a smile makeover take?

It depends on the plan. Whitening and bonding can be done in a few visits, while a plan with Invisalign may take a year or more. Your dentist will give you a timeline during your consultation.

Do I have to do every treatment in the plan?

No. The plan shows you what is possible and in what order. You choose what to do and when, and you can change your mind as you go.

Can I see what my smile will look like first?

In many cases, yes. Your dentist may use photos, a model or a temporary mock-up on your teeth. These give you a good idea, though the final result can differ a little.

Will my results last?

Many treatments last for years with good care, but none last forever. Veneers, bonding and crowns may need to be replaced in time, and whitening fades. Regular checkups help you get the most from your work.

Who does the treatment?

Your general dentist plans and provides most makeover treatments. If part of your plan needs specialist care, such as for gum disease, we will explain that and who would provide it.
