Invisalign Teen in North York
Invisalign Teen is a version of Invisalign made for teens whose teeth are still coming in, with features that help parents and dentists track wear.
Invisalign Teen in North York is clear aligner treatment designed for teenagers. At Emerald Forest Dental, our dentists check your teen's growth, bite and adult teeth before suggesting it. The aligners can make room for teeth that are still erupting, and optional wear indicators help show whether aligners are being worn enough each day.

About invisalign teen
Teen mouths are still changing. Some adult teeth, like second molars and canines, may still be coming in. Invisalign Teen aligners can include small spaces or tabs that make room for those teeth as they erupt. The aligners also often come with blue wear indicators that fade with use, giving parents and your dentist a rough sense of how often they are being worn.
Because the aligners come out, teens can play sports, play wind instruments and eat lunch with friends without dealing with brackets or wires. The trade-off is responsibility. The aligners only work when they are worn about 20 to 22 hours a day, and they are easy to leave on a cafeteria tray. Our dentists will talk openly with you and your teen about whether aligners fit your teen's habits.
Not every teen is a good fit. Some jaw growth problems or complex bites need other kinds of orthodontic care, sometimes from an orthodontist. At the first visit, our dentists check your teen's teeth, X-rays and bite, and will tell you clearly whether Invisalign Teen is suitable or whether a referral is the better path.
Signs your teen may benefit

- Your family dentist has noticed the bite is not lining up
Benefits
- Clear aligners that are easy to wear to school
- Removable for sports, music and meals
- Wear indicators help with accountability
- Easier brushing and flossing than with brackets

- First alignersYour teen gets the first aligners, learns how to put them in and take them out, and gets a case.
- Regular check-insVisits every several weeks let us check progress and fit.
- RetainersAfter the last aligner, retainers help keep teeth in their new places.
Aftercare
- Keep a spare case in a backpack so aligners do not get wrapped in a napkin and thrown out.
- Take aligners out for sports drinks, pop and juice, then rinse or brush before putting them back.
- Tell us right away if an aligner is lost or cracked, so we can advise which one to wear next.
Other options
Traditional braces are another option and may suit teens who would find it hard to keep aligners in, or those with certain bite or jaw problems. Our dentists can explain the differences and refer you to an orthodontist when that is the right choice.
Cost and coverage
Fees depend on how complex your teen's case is and how long treatment is expected to take, usually using the ODA suggested fee guide as a reference. Many family plans include orthodontic benefits for dependants, often with an age cut-off and a lifetime maximum, so we can send a pre-determination before you decide. If your family is covered by CDCP, we can talk about whether it applies to orthodontic care. LendCare payment plans can turn the cost into monthly payments.
Our promise: we confirm your coverage and explain the cost before treatment.

Invisalign Teen FAQ
What age is right for Invisalign Teen?
There is no single age. It is usually considered once most adult teeth have come in. Our dentists will look at your teen's X-rays and growth to decide.
What happens if my teen loses an aligner?
Call us. Depending on where they are in treatment, we may have them move to the next aligner or wear the previous one while a replacement is ordered. Do not skip ahead without asking.
Can my teen play sports with aligners?
Yes. For contact sports, your teen should take the aligners out and wear a sports mouthguard instead, then put the aligners back in after the game.
Do wear indicators show exactly how many hours were worn?
No. They fade with use and give a general idea, not an exact count. They are a helpful guide for conversations at home and at check-ins.
Who provides Invisalign Teen at your clinic?
Treatment is provided by our dentists, who are general dentists. If your teen's needs are better suited to an orthodontist, we will say so and help with a referral.
